Role overview
This position supports Sutton Bank’s prepaid card program and, as needed, broader core banking operations. The role is centered on monitoring activity, identifying suspicious patterns, and moving potential issues into case review for deeper investigation.
What you will do
- Review transaction monitoring alerts, escalation reports from program managers, and internal referrals to spot activity that may require further review.
- Investigate, document, and analyze unusual or suspicious transaction patterns and prepare Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Continuation SARs (CSARs) when warranted.
- Handle an investigation queue covering prepaid card and core banking products, from initial review through final resolution, in line with the bank’s AML procedures and policies.
- Serve as a point of contact for law enforcement matters and address requests such as subpoenas and search warrants.
- Support 314(a) and 314(b) requests, plus other BSA/AML-related escalations, fraud matters, and compliance inquiries.
- Work with bank examiners, internal audit teams, and compliance staff during BSA/AML audits and examinations when needed.
- Review automated alerts and determine whether activity suggests possible illicit behavior that should be reported under BSA/AML requirements.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in BSA/AML, fraud, SAR preparation, or a closely related banking function. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered. Prior exposure to a commercial banking environment, along with a solid understanding of banking laws, financial services regulation, and compliance operations, is strongly preferred.
Professional certifications such as CAMS, CFE, or similar credentials are preferred.

- Ability to explain information to leadership, employees, and external stakeholders
- Experience drafting policies, procedures, and training materials
- Familiarity with government instructions and staff training
