About Pinterest

Pinterest is a global platform inspiring millions of users worldwide by helping them discover creative ideas and plan memorable experiences. The company's mission is to fuel creativity and growth by leveraging innovation and the strengths of its employees.

At Pinterest, artificial intelligence is integrated as a key component enhancing creativity and business impact. Candidates are expected to demonstrate foundational skills and collaboration abilities with AI during the interview process, explaining their reasoning clearly.

Role Overview

The Credit and Risk Specialist is part of Pinterest’s Global Credit Risk team within Finance and Accounting. This team manages credit risk, KYC compliance, and accounts receivable (AR) reserves for advertisers globally. The role partners closely with Sales, Revenue Operations, and Revenue Accounting to drive growth while mitigating credit risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate creditworthiness of advertisers and agencies based on financials, payment records, credit data, and internal risk systems.
  • Establish and update credit limits and payment terms following approval guidelines; escalate high-risk or high-value accounts to leadership.
  • Analyze and decide on credit holds for insertion orders and PinOrders, either approving, conditioning, or declining with clear explanations.
  • Collaborate with Collections to resolve overdue balances, reducing credit exposure and losses.
  • Assist with quarterly AR reserve reviews and support SOX compliance by maintaining accurate and audit-ready documentation.
  • Manage credit case queues in Salesforce and other systems, adhering to service level agreements and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Work jointly with Sales, Revenue Operations, and Accounting teams to justify credit decisions, discuss risk tolerance, and align strategies for complex accounts.
  • Identify and implement improvements in processes and tools, such as reducing manual reviews and enhancing automation.
  • Use data analytics to generate strategic insights, inform decisions, and improve credit risk policies and procedures.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in B2B risk management, credit analysis, corporate lending, banking, or order-to-cash/AR roles, preferably in technology, media, or advertising sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficient in credit analysis techniques including reviewing financial statements, market factors, payment behaviors, and qualitative risk indicators.
  • Experience using ERP and CRM or case management software such as Oracle, SAP, and Salesforce, with comfort in queue management.
  • Strong understanding of order-to-cash cycle components: order booking, billing, collections, cash application, and AR reserves.
  • Excellent analytical judgment, detail orientation, and ability to make sound decisions within policy boundaries, escalating when appropriate.
  • Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize responsibilities effectively, and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Preferred SQL skills with experience in querying and analyzing data using platforms like Hive and Snowflake to support credit risk decisions.
  • Experience with AI tools is advantageous for improving productivity, automation, and decision-making.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating credit policies and decisions clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster productive relationships across clients, sales, operations, and finance teams.

Work Environment and Additional Notes

  • This role is based in the United States, requiring occasional in-person collaboration approximately 1-2 times annually; location flexibility within the country is allowed.
  • Candidates must be able to work Eastern or Central time zone hours, with a preference for Eastern time zone.
  • This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
  • Pinterest is committed to creating an inclusive and equitable workplace; all hiring decisions are merit-based without consideration of protected characteristics.
  • Salary range for this position is $71,041 to $146,260 USD annually, with equity eligibility included; final compensation depends on location, experience, and skills.
  • Applicants must certify that all information provided during the application process is accurate and complete.
