About the role

Netflix is looking for a Machine Learning Researcher to help shape the next wave of creative technology. The work centers on turning advanced research into practical tools that support Netflix’s global production environment, with a strong focus on solving difficult technical problems in filmmaking and content creation.

The Creative Technology Research team works on foundational video generation models and operates with startup-style speed while benefiting from Netflix’s scale and resources. This is a research-heavy role where ideas can move quickly into real-world use.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and improve model architectures for image and video generation as well as editing.
• Set up and manage data pipelines for training large-scale image and video generation systems.
• Create efficient distributed training and data-loading infrastructure for very large clusters.
• Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate model output, collect feedback, and develop benchmarks that reflect quality requirements.

Requirements

• Strong grounding in deep learning fundamentals, including concepts such as Transformers and Diffusion models.
• Hands-on experience with preparing, cleaning, and curating datasets.
• Proven ability to train and run inference for large models across distributed systems and large clusters.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment while focusing on high-impact problems.
• Bonus: experience shipping meaningful products or contributing to open-source projects.

Compensation and benefits

Netflix states that compensation is paid as annual salary, with no bonus component. Candidates may choose each year how much of their package is allocated to salary versus stock options. The stated annual compensation range for this position is USD 466,000 to USD 750,000.

Full-time hourly employees earn 35 days of paid time off each year for vacation, holidays, and sick leave. Full-time salaried employees receive flexible time off immediately.
