Role Overview

The Creative Director will own the creative vision across Cleo, spanning brand identity, campaign thinking, and the performance creative used across paid channels each week. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for leading the creative studio, setting the quality bar for all output, and partnering closely with growth, brand, and product teams. The role reports to the CMO/VP Marketing and plays an important part in defining how the brand is experienced externally.

Brand Creative and Visual Identity

  • Shape and continuously refine Cleo’s visual identity so it stays distinctive, consistent, and adaptable across markets and formats.
  • Guide how the brand personality is expressed, including visual and tonal treatment of Roast Mode and other signature product moments.
  • Create a flexible creative system that provides structure for the team while still allowing room for originality.

Paid Social and Performance Creative

  • Own the creative strategy for paid social across platforms such as Meta and TikTok, with an emphasis on rapid testing and learning.
  • Work closely with growth and performance marketing to interpret results, turn insights into creative ideas, and iterate quickly.
  • Maintain a strong balance between creative excellence and the speed and volume required by performance-led channels.

Campaign Development and Production

  • Lead campaigns from initial brief through concepting and production, ensuring each piece is strategically relevant and creatively strong.
  • Develop a production approach that is efficient, scalable, and makes smart use of internal teams, agencies, and freelance support.
  • Improve the briefing process so every project is tied to a clear business or marketing objective.

Creative Operations and Workflow

  • Design the operating rhythms and workflows that let the creative team move quickly without lowering standards.
  • Establish effective collaboration between creative, growth, brand, product, and external partners.
  • Measure creative output and impact, using data to refine the process over time.

Candidate Profile

Cleos is seeking someone with experience leading creative work across both brand and performance, ideally someone who has helped build a creative function from an early or scrappy stage. Strong experience with paid social creative, especially on Meta and TikTok, is important, along with familiarity managing agencies and production partners in a way that drives both quality and accountability.

They should be able to inspire a team, build practical workflows, and make strong strategic decisions from a brief. Comfort with data is important, as performance signals should inform creative choices without limiting originality. Compensation and Work Setup

The package includes base pay plus equity, with reviews every six months aligned to quarterly OKR planning. Cleo is backed by Balderton and EQT Ventures. The US team works fully remotely, and the company also runs virtual social events plus an annual offsite in Europe with all expenses covered.
