The Team

The Operations group plays an essential role in enabling Biohub’s work at the intersection of frontier AI and frontier biology, as well as Learning Commons’ mission to build AI infrastructure that supports how students learn and the tools that shape those experiences.

Operations brings together Central Tech, Finance, Marketing & Communications, People, and Real Estate / Workplace / Events / Facilities / Security (REWFS). Together, these teams build the programs, processes, and experiences that help colleagues and partners deliver impact.

This work calls for strategic thinking, operational discipline, creativity, and close collaboration. The function supports employee experience, data and infrastructure, and organizational communications that help drive change at scale.

Opportunity

CZI is seeking a Creative & Brand Lead to scale and protect Biohub’s creative work. Reporting to the VP of Marketing & Operations in the Marketing & Communications organization, this person will partner closely with the social media and product UX teams.

The role sits at the intersection of brand, content, and execution. You’ll guide creative work across internal stakeholders and outside partners, making sure everything produced is clear, high quality, and aligned with the mission. You will also manage a small team of full-time and contract creatives.

This is not a purely ideation-focused role. It suits someone with strong creative judgment, the ability to influence others, and a track record of getting excellent work from agencies and collaborators handling technical and complex topics.

What You'll Do

  • Direct creative development across priority initiatives, including technical launch work in partnership with product UX and agencies, as well as evergreen storytelling, brand work, and campaigns.
  • Set a high standard for clarity, quality, and consistency across all outputs.
  • Turn complicated scientific and technical material into accessible creative direction.
  • Maintain and strengthen brand standards across channels and external partners.
  • Give concrete, practical feedback that keeps work aligned with brand and voice.
  • Spot inconsistencies and weak points in how the brand is represented.
  • Handle day-to-day relationships with external creative and production agencies.
  • Provide direction, review deliverables, and ensure strong execution from partners.
  • Manage schedules, project scopes, and expectations across several collaborators at once.
  • Work closely with product, social, and communications teams.
  • Influence stakeholders in complex environments while keeping creative work aligned to broader priorities.
  • Move multiple initiatives forward at the same time.
  • Lead a small team of creatives and support both agency-run and in-house projects.
  • Coordinate contractors and other external contributors when needed.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in brand or creative roles, ideally within a tech company, startup, or agency.
  • At least 3 years of people management experience.
  • Deep experience working with and overseeing creative agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to shape and improve creative output.
  • Strong visual standards and sound creative judgment.
  • Experience working on technical or otherwise complex subject matter.
  • Comfort operating in highly cross-functional, stakeholder-rich settings.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to give useful feedback.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role in Redwood City, CA and New York, NY is $171,000 to $214,000 annually. New hires are generally brought in toward the lower end of the range, with room to grow over time based on performance and development. Final placement depends on job-related skills and experience assessed during the interview process.

This role may also qualify for participation in the company’s discretionary annual performance bonus program. Bonus eligibility and target levels are determined under the organization’s total rewards approach and may differ by role.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position. You will be expected onsite at least 60% of the working month, which is about 3 days per week. The specific in-office schedule will be set by the hiring manager and shared during the interview process.
