Role Overview
This position offers a meaningful security leadership opportunity in Jamaica. The selected candidate will be responsible for protecting personnel and operations while supporting safe program delivery that serves people in need. The work is carried out within a Christian faith-based environment, and the organization emphasizes spiritual life as part of its daily culture.

What You Will Do
- Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders who may affect staff safety, such as local community leaders, police, military contacts, other NGOs, the UN, and government representatives.
- Review public and confidential intelligence to keep national and local threat assessments current.
- Track political, economic, and social developments at the country level and provide regular updates to regional security leadership and in-country management.
- Recruit, supervise, and train national security officers.
- Watch for emerging or active emergencies and ensure staff are kept informed in a timely manner.
- Partner with country leadership to recommend travel limitations and temporary pauses in program activity when needed.
- Keep disaster response, evacuation, and other contingency plans current.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- At least one year of management experience, ideally in a disaster-affected setting.
- Strong spiritual maturity and the ability to guide direct reports in their walk with Jesus Christ.
- Good diplomacy and negotiation abilities, including the capacity to coordinate with other agencies and maintain constructive relationships.
- Practical understanding of complex security environments and the ability to shape program decisions accordingly.
- Ability to interpret information, form a clear security picture, and communicate findings effectively to leadership in writing and verbally.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and sound critical-thinking skills.
- Comfort working across different educational, linguistic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- International military experience is preferred, or equivalent international field experience handling security concerns.
- 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies are required; if not yet completed, there is an opportunity to complete this requirement after hire.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Frequent travel to field locations and project sites is expected.
