Role overview
Samaritan's Purse is hiring a Country Administrator to provide leadership and administrative oversight in Uganda. This position supports the Children's Heart Project, Mission Aviation Services, and regional procurement, while also coordinating with the Program Director for Mission Aviation Services, the Director for Children's Heart Project, and the Regional Security Manager. The role is based in Kampala and involves managing a team as well as handling country-level operational responsibilities.
What you will do
- Keep a strong personal walk of faith and represent Jesus Christ through your conduct and witness.
- Serve as the main coordination point for Samaritan's Purse activities in Uganda.
- Assist the Children's Heart Project, Mission Aviation Services, and field offices in South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo with administrative, financial, and operational support.
- Represent the organization when working with legal counsel, public officials, banks, hospital administrators, medical professionals, donors, churches, non-governmental organizations, and visiting guests.
- Offer spiritual and professional guidance to staff through vision setting, problem-solving, advice, system improvement, morning devotions, mentoring, and support for healthy communication and teamwork.
- Coordinate with the Regional Security Manager to remain informed about the security environment and implement actions as needed.
- Carry out any additional responsibilities assigned by the organization.
Qualifications and experience
The organization is seeking someone with a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, plus at least five years of management experience, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience. The ideal candidate should be able to build work plans, handle problems independently, communicate effectively with people from varied ethnic, linguistic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds, and demonstrate strong management and leadership ability. Experience in coaching and mentoring others is also important. Candidates should be motivated to help people come to know Jesus Christ in a way that brings lasting change. If the 12 credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies requirement has not yet been completed, there is an opportunity to fulfill it after joining.
Work conditions and requirements
This is a full-time role based in Kampala, Uganda. English fluency is required. The position is family accompanied. Travel may be required to field locations, including disaster areas, and the employee must maintain the necessary travel documents and vaccinations for entry into other countries.
