Job description

Overview

This position offers qualified counsellors a meaningful opportunity to impact the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children and young people aged 5 to 13 years within the YOUnited partnership, a collaboration between Ormiston Families, Centre 33, and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust. The role is full-time, permanent, with a salary of £30,000 per annum and involves developing and delivering short-term therapeutic counselling sessions using a specialized Single Sessions Thinking (SST) approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct first appointments applying the SST method followed by short-term counselling interventions.
  • Deliver counselling in a hybrid model, including face-to-face sessions, mainly within school settings, and online sessions.
  • Participate actively in clinical supervision and contribute to the growth of the service including supporting trainee counsellor placements.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be a fully qualified, BACP-registered counsellor or hold an equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Have demonstrable post-qualification experience working with children aged 5 to 13, with mild to moderate mental health and emotional challenges.
  • Possess strong safeguarding knowledge and display a dedicated commitment to the protection of children and young people.
  • Ability to travel extensively across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to conduct in-person sessions at various schools.

Work Location and Conditions

The role is primarily home-based, with in-person counselling sessions predominantly at schools across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The main administrative office is located in March, Cambridgeshire.
