Role Summary
We are looking for a business-savvy attorney to lead litigation and consumer complaint management efforts. This pivotal role influences risk management strategies and supports regulatory compliance through proactive litigation handling and complaint resolution. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will serve as the lead legal authority on litigation and escalated disputes, collaborating across compliance, operations, and risk, while directing outside legal counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage litigation, arbitration, pre-litigation disputes, and third-party claims end-to-end.
- Formulate legal defense strategies, including pleadings review and deposition preparation.
- Supervise external counsel to ensure efficient, quality representation aligned with company goals.
- Oversee internal investigations related to regulatory and operational matters.
- Collaborate with business and compliance teams to anticipate risks and implement mitigation based on litigation and complaint trends.
- Handle escalated consumer complaints, including regulatory submissions, ensuring compliant and timely responses.
- Develop scalable complaint management processes alongside operational teams.
- Analyze complaint themes, partnering cross-functionally to reduce exposure and improve customer outcomes.
- Provide practical legal guidance to internal stakeholders, promoting alignment between legal, compliance, and business units.
- Champion continuous process improvements and uphold a culture of accountability and integrity.
Candidate Profile
- Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in good standing.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in consumer financial services litigation, combining law firm and in-house experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of federal/state consumer protection laws and financial regulations.
- Experience in consumer lending or bank-sponsored programs is advantageous.
- Demonstrated capability managing complex litigation independently with a balance of legal risk and business needs.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic fintech or financial services environment.
- Exceptional business judgment with the skill to transform complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice.
- Data-oriented approach to identify trends and develop preventive measures based on litigation and complaints analysis.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills across departments.
- Proactive ownership attitude and proven ability to drive initiatives to fruition.

Work Location and Culture
This fully remote position allows work from any approved location, with optional access to our Irving, TX office. We foster connection via regular virtual meetings and team engagements.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary ranges from 160000 to 170000 USD, complemented by a performance-based bonus.
