Overview

The Cost Engineering (CE) team plays a crucial role in achieving cost clarity and optimization related to externally procured materials, components, and systems within Siemens Energy's portfolio. In this role, you will spearhead diverse projects focused on cost-saving initiatives and harnessing supplier innovation potential. You will facilitate the implementation of cost-reduction measures on products and solutions offered to external clients.

Beyond optimizing current products, you will represent Procurement in developing new products and exploring new business areas. Your involvement as a core member in strategic R&D projects includes collaborating with R&D Project Managers and strategic suppliers to meet project cost targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within the cross-functional CE and Procurement teams to enhance cost transparency and foster unified cost management efforts.
  • Engage deeply with suppliers to comprehend their capabilities and collaborate to improve processes and cost efficiency, employing Cost Structure Analysis for negotiation alignment.
  • Support and implement Commodity and Supplier Strategies ensuring adequate CE capacity for commodity negotiations.
  • Work with Marketing, Sales, and Project Procurement during bidding phases for new or optimized product offerings.
  • Analyze supplier-specific cost structures to uncover cost-saving opportunities and evaluate bundling effects to promote standardization and scalability.
  • Develop and apply cost reduction methods in partnership with R&D, Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a combined technical/commercial field or technical discipline with extensive experience in energy, engineering, R&D, manufacturing, project management, or supply chain.
  • Technical knowledge of core commodities; proficiency with cost analysis tools such as TcPCM.
  • Preferred experience with gas/steam turbines or generator core commodities.
  • Familiarity with Design to Cost (DtC), Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), and experience in technical and cost optimization for new developments is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with a history of working in global cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent English with conversational proficiency in German.
