Core Logging Geologist

Overview

We are looking for a skilled Core Logging Geologist to be part of our mineral exploration team based in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The position entails carrying out precise geological logging of drill cores, managing samples, and contributing to exploration initiatives primarily targeting base metals with a focus on gold. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficient geological interpretation, comply with industry standards, and thrive in remote field conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough geological, structural, alteration, mineralization, and geotechnical examinations of diamond drill cores.
• Accurately identify and document lithological units, mineral types, alteration patterns, and structural elements.
• Assist exploration targeting by interpreting geological data and integrating drill results.
• Ensure precise selection, labeling, and preparation of samples aligned with QA/QC guidelines.
• Maintain comprehensive and reliable geological databases, ensuring data quality.
• Collaborate with drilling contractors and exploration teams to manage drilling and core handling operations effectively.
• Participate in geological mapping, trench logging, and field surveys as necessary.
• Analyze exploration outcomes and contribute to technical documentation and daily updates.
• Adhere strictly to company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols and promote safe work environments.
• Support resource estimation by providing accurate geological input.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Applied Geology, or a related Earth Science field.
• At least 5 years of practical experience in mineral exploration fieldwork.
• Expertise in core logging with emphasis on base metals and extensive exposure to gold exploration projects.
• Strong foundation in structural geology, alteration mineralogy, and ore deposit geology.
• Familiarity with geological logging software and database management tools.
• Understanding of QA/QC processes related to drilling and sampling accuracy.
• Capability to work independently in remote and demanding environments.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and technical report production skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and geological data management applications.
