Coordinator – Tamil Nadu (Rameswaram Region)

About the Role

This position involves supporting women-led seaweed enterprises by enhancing business operations, product innovation, quality assurance, market outreach, and community collaboration to foster sustainable livelihoods.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct training sessions for women's self-help groups (SHGs) on bookkeeping, pricing strategies, inventory management, sales techniques, marketing, vendor relations, and fundamental business planning tactics.
• Assist in the development, evaluation, and commercialization of seaweed-based value-added products, gathering customer feedback and spotting market opportunities.
• Ensure consistent production quality, hygiene standards, and enforce standardized procedures including packaging and labeling.
• Oversee vendor relationship management for procurement of raw materials, packaging, and logistics to enhance supply chain effectiveness; increase wholesale and brand sales via retailers, distributors, institutions, and participation in exhibitions, fairs, community events, and promotions.
• Support regulatory compliance including FSSAI requirements for manufacturing, labeling, packaging, and necessary documentation.
• Regularly visit coastal villages to build partnerships with women’s groups and other stakeholders, facilitate training, and provide ongoing enterprise assistance.
• Maintain comprehensive records regarding production volumes, sales figures, training activities, partnerships, product development progress, and project reporting obligations.

Skills and Qualifications

• Must be fluent in Tamil.
• Based in or willing to relocate to the Rameswaram area.
• Prepared to travel regularly to coastal villages.
• Excellent communication, organizational, training, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in SHGs, rural livelihoods, women’s entrepreneurship, food processing, community development, sales, or small enterprise development is advantageous.
