(MSG Sports) is a leader in professional sports, managing prominent teams such as the New York Knicks (NBA), New York Rangers (NHL), and development league teams including the Westchester Knicks (NBAGL) and Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL). The organization also operates the MSG Training Center, a professional sports team performance facility located in Greenburgh, NY.
Role Overview
The Coordinator of Fan Engagement will play a vital role in shaping and implementing the overall fan engagement strategy, with a focus on Jr. Knicks youth basketball programs. This role supports efforts in fan, community, and youth engagement by fostering positive basketball experiences and strengthening the connection between the brand and the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and executing youth basketball strategies for Jr. Knicks, including creating new initiatives and expanding current programs.
- Lead operational and event management duties for Jr. Knicks programs such as camps, clinics, coaches' programs, equipment donations, affiliate programs, and tournaments.
- Handle registrations, on-site check-ins, event setup and breakdown, troubleshooting, venue arrangements, and feedback surveys.
- Manage communication channels with internal teams and external partners; help develop and implement marketing and communication plans.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with external organizations to grow youth basketball community involvement.
- Manage departmental budgeting, track expenses, process invoices, and assist with project-specific budget oversight.
- Coordinate data collection efforts across youth programs, oversee registration systems, assist with survey development, and maintain contact databases.
- Supervise event staff and clinicians during programs.
- Collaborate with Digital and Brand Marketing teams to design youth engagement content and maintain awareness of trends in youth sports and basketball.
- Support in-arena fan experiences and broader fan engagement events.
- Research industry best practices related to youth-centric sports brands to continuously improve department initiatives.
- Ensure guests, partners, and team members receive excellent experiences by upholding appearance and conduct standards during events.
Qualifications
- Between 1 to 3 years of experience in youth sports or operations roles.
- Knowledge of the youth basketball ecosystem and experience with grassroots or community programs/events is highly valued.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and various digital products.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and project management capability.
- Ability to develop effective relationships across departments and adapt to dynamic environments.
- Experience planning and executing marketing, communications, and promotional strategies.
- Availability to work nights and weekends as required.
Compensation and Opportunities
The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $65,000 USD annually. MSG emphasizes employee growth by providing resources and tools for talent development, supporting career progression, and encouraging longevity within the company.
