Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Coordinator for City Parks to lead and influence the future direction of one of the City of Mandurah’s most prominent and valued service areas. This leadership role involves managing the delivery of high-quality parks, reserves, and natural spaces that enhance community wellbeing, promote environmental care, and contribute to Mandurah's overall liveability.

As the Coordinator, you will work closely with a passionate leadership team, overseeing both planned and reactive maintenance programs. Your role will include driving ongoing improvements in service delivery and adapting parks services to meet the needs of a growing population. This position requires balancing strategic management with direct leadership to make a positive impact on the everyday environments used by the community.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage operational delivery of parks maintenance programs, including both scheduled and emergency tasks.
  • Drive continuous service enhancements to meet evolving community requirements.
  • Oversee the management of large operational teams to ensure effective program implementation.
  • Administer tenders and contracts related to parks maintenance and services.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to support environmental stewardship and community wellbeing through quality park services.

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in a relevant discipline connected to the role's operational focus.
  • Possession of a current unrestricted "C" class national driver’s license.
  • A minimum of 10 years recent experience managing parks and gardens operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in parks maintenance practices.
  • Proven expertise in tenders and contracts administration.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills managing large operational teams effectively.

Additional Information

  • Applications are assessed on merit-based principles; candidates who do not fully meet essential criteria may be considered for reclassified roles with adjusted remuneration.
  • The salary starts at step 1 with potential increments based on skills and experience, typically annually per the Industrial Agreement.
  • All candidates must undergo a drug and alcohol test as part of recruitment.
  • This recruitment process may consider applicants for future permanent or fixed-term roles within the next 12 months that align with candidates' skills.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia.
  • Employees must declare any secondary employment to manage conflicts of interest transparently.
  • Accessibility assistance is available during the application process upon request.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and child safety is integral to the organisation.

Application Process

Interested candidates should visit the City of Mandurah Careers page for application details. Further inquiries can be directed to Joy Avery, Manager Parks Maintenance, at 0438 580 284. Applications are welcomed immediately and will remain open until suitable candidates are identified, so early submission is encouraged.
