Job Overview

Whitehorse City Council invites applications for two part-time cook positions at our Children’s Services Centres in Nunawading, Victoria. These roles focus on preparing nutritious and appealing meals and snacks for children enrolled at the centre. The positions include one working 32.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday, and the other working 13 hours per week on Thursday and Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily meals and snacks that are balanced, nutritious, and visually appealing for children in the Centre.
  • Properly order and manage food supplies ensuring accuracy and timely procurement.
  • Plan food distribution aligned with designated schedules and timeframes.
  • Adhere to food safety, hygiene standards, and statutory regulations including the food safety plan.

Candidate Requirements

  • Certificate in Food Handling is essential, along with knowledge of relevant health and hygiene legislation.
  • Proven experience in food preparation and managing inventory orders effectively.
  • Familiarity with nutritional needs, religious and cultural dietary considerations, and allergy management for children.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly convey menu and purchasing details.
