Role overview
The business is building a new control centre and is hiring several Control Room Operators to help establish the team. In this position, you will play an important part in protecting fleet safety, supporting driver wellbeing, and maintaining compliance by monitoring telematics and incident notifications in real time through the In-Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS).
The control room is currently located in Dandenong, Victoria, and is expected to move to Melbourne CBD later in the year. The role follows a rotating four-week roster that includes day, afternoon, and night shifts.
What you will do
- Handle day-to-day communication with drivers, supervisors, and other operational staff in a professional manner.
- Watch for IVMS alerts as they come in and respond to them according to procedure.
- Assist operational leaders quickly when incidents or escalations arise.
- Raise serious issues without delay and with clear, accurate reporting.
- Keep system logs and records up to date so investigations can be supported properly.
- Help reinforce safe driving practices and compliance requirements.
What the employer is looking for
- Background in a control room, contact centre, or emergency response setting.
- Previous exposure to transport or logistics is an advantage, though not essential.
- Ability to deal calmly and effectively with urgent, time-sensitive situations.
- Confidence using several software systems and digital platforms at once.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work across a 24/7 rotating roster.
