Role overview
This position is for a Contract Manager based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, working on a rail / infrastructure / PMC assignment. The role is a full-time contract appointment for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal. The main purpose of the job is to handle contract administration and commercial matters so the project is delivered in line with contractual commitments while safeguarding the organization’s commercial position.
Core responsibilities
- Administer project contracts in line with requirements and standard contractual frameworks such as FIDIC.
- Set and drive contract strategy, compliance checks, and risk control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage variations, claims, change orders, contractual notifications, and related commercial communications.
- Advise project management and other stakeholders on contractual and commercial matters.
- Take the lead in discussions and negotiations with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and other project parties.
- Track contractor delivery against contract terms, KPIs, obligations, and agreed deliverables.
- Liaise with legal, planning, cost control, procurement, and project functions on disputes and claims.
- Draft and present reports covering contract position, risk exposure, claims, variations, and commercial impact.
- Contribute to dispute avoidance, claim settlement, and informed contractual decisions.
Qualifications and experience
Candidates should hold a degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline. The role calls for at least 10 to 15+ years of experience in contract management or commercial management. Background on major infrastructure, rail, construction, or mega projects is strongly preferred. A solid understanding of FIDIC and international contract standards is essential, along with hands-on experience in contracts, claims, variations, negotiations, and commercial risk management. Strong commercial judgment, negotiation ability, leadership, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills are also important.
