About the Role

This opportunity is based onsite in Kidderminster, England, with a contract duration of 24 months. The role offers a competitive salary between £45,000 and £55,000, complemented by excellent benefits. The position focuses on leading and embedding continuous improvement initiatives that drive lasting operational and business performance enhancements across manufacturing and business support functions within a prominent UK defence manufacturer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects spanning manufacturing and business units.
  • Implement and promote Operational Excellence initiatives such as Lean deployment, Quick Response Quality Control (QRQC), Kaizen events, and customer-focused improvement programs.
  • Facilitate workshops and provide training to enhance Lean capabilities throughout the organization.
  • Analyze operational data to extract trends and root causes using tools including Excel and other business intelligence platforms.
  • Develop current and future state process maps employing methodologies like Value Stream Mapping and SIPOC.
  • Assist in project selection, prioritization, and prepare business cases for improvement initiatives.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of improvement projects ensuring outcomes are measured, implemented, and sustained effectively.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to boost productivity, reduce waste, and elevate overall business performance.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and enhance staff engagement across the organization.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or an equivalent qualification.
  • Hold a degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Operations, or related fields.
  • Have a minimum of five years of experience in continuous improvement roles within manufacturing or engineering sectors.
  • Proven track record of achieving measurable business benefits such as cost reductions, cycle time improvements, productivity growth, or operational efficiencies.
  • Strong proficiency in applying Lean, DMAIC, and other Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical abilities to interpret complex datasets and translate insights into actionable improvements.
  • Capability to influence diverse stakeholders, challenge existing practices, and lead organizational change.
  • Experience in aerospace, defence, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments is advantageous.
