Role Overview
This position requires a candidate who is highly enthusiastic about following both domestic and international sports events. The ideal applicant must demonstrate strong writing capabilities and the talent to craft news articles, explanatory pieces, and feature stories that engage digital readers effectively.
Primary Duties
- Report on national and international sports including cricket, football, tennis, badminton, athletics, and other major disciplines.
- Create timely news coverage, match analyses, feature articles, explainers, and athlete profiles.
- Monitor and update tournament schedules, rankings, player records, transfers, and significant developments in sports.
- Spot sports trends and develop captivating content tailored for online audiences.
- Generate clear and accessible explainers regarding sports rules, formats, statistics, and historical achievements.
- Work closely with the editorial team to guarantee accurate, prompt, and appealing sports journalism.
- Uphold rigorous standards of fact-checking, editorial precision, and journalistic integrity.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or a related field.
- Between one and two years of professional experience in sports journalism, digital media, or a news organization.
- Preference will be given to candidates with pertinent internships, freelance work, or a strong portfolio showcasing sports writing.
- Comprehensive knowledge of major national and global sports events and tournaments.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- Capability to operate effectively in a dynamic digital newsroom and deliver under tight deadlines.
