Job description
About the Role
Edjuster provides end-to-end digital support for contents claims, including service support and proprietary valuation technology such as Exclaim. This position is not an insurance adjuster role; instead, it focuses on the contents portion of a claim within Crawford & Company’s edjuster division.
A contents claim relates to damage or loss of personal property, often resulting from theft, water, fire, or similar events. The Content Claims Specialist - Field works from home part of the time and travels within the assigned region to support claim handling in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The role involves frequent communication in English and regular reading and preparation of documents in English.
What You Will Do
- Visit claim locations to meet adjusters, policyholders, and other vendors, and complete inventories for total-loss contents.
- Lead virtual sessions with policyholders to gather information during content recreations and guide them through memory-based exercises to identify items that cannot be restored.
- Help ensure claims are completed accurately and within turnaround expectations set by the company’s productivity and Performance Excellence Guarantee.
- Coordinate with internal edjuster teams to arrange the resources needed for inventory work and like, kind, and quality valuation while meeting productivity targets.
- Provide timely and clear updates to adjusters and policyholders about the status of the contents claim process.
- Prepare and submit daily work and time logs for all tasks completed.
- Keep detailed claim notes updated in Exclaim for the various steps involved in managing the claim.
- Work with the wider edjuster team to complete pricing and ensure Like, Kind and Quality standards are followed.
- Represent the edjuster brand in a professional, positive, and reliable manner.
- Track expenses and submit claim-related costs according to company procedures and deadlines.
- Maintain a well-organized schedule to manage priorities, appointments, and time effectively in a fast-moving environment.
Requirements
- Secondary school completion is required.
- Experience in insurance, customer service, retail, food and beverage, construction, or restoration may be considered relevant.
- Prior exposure to property claims is an advantage.
- Strong customer service capability.
- Patience, empathy, and solid problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision in most situations.
- Access to a reliable, insured vehicle for travel across the designated region.
- Valid driver’s licence in good standing.
- Good working knowledge of computers and common tools such as MS Office, Google Workspace, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills.
- Comfort with change and willingness to learn new technology.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and self-improvement.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and employment reference verification.
- Physical ability to sit or stand for long periods.
- Capability to perform repetitive motions and routine tasks.
- Comfort with identifying household goods and assigning reasonable values.
Working Conditions
This is a field-based role, so travel is a key part of the job. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary, and a corporate credit card is provided for approved work travel expenses. The role may involve exposure to varied site conditions such as cold, heat, rain, or debris.
A functional home office is also required, including dependable internet and a quiet workspace for remote work, virtual meetings, and secure handling of data. You must also be prepared to wear appropriate personal protective equipment when working at sites that may be dirty, unpleasant, or hazardous.
Compensation and Benefits
The position pays an hourly wage of $22 to $25, plus mileage reimbursement.
