About the Role
NHS Dumfries & Galloway invites applications for an innovative and compassionate Consultant in Infectious Diseases to join their multidisciplinary Medicine for the Elderly team at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, a modern and purpose-built hospital in Scotland. The post-holder will play a key role in shaping and delivering services in orthogeriatrics, frailty care, front door assessment, and community hospital outreach. This position offers an opportunity to work within a supportive, experienced, and proactive multi-professional team dedicated to outstanding patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver clinical leadership and expert care in Infectious Diseases, supporting the OPAT service across the region.
- Contribute to service redesign to meet evolving healthcare demands, especially in areas related to geriatrics and infection medicine.
- Collaborate with a team consisting of two consultants, a Nurse Consultant (Blood Borne Virus specialist), 0.5 WTE BBV Clinical Nurse Specialist, two experienced CNS nurses, and a clinical fellow in the ward.
- Participate in the Acute Medical on-call rota, if agreed upon.
- Negotiate flexible job planning including 10 programmed activities with discussions on dedicated clinical and non-clinical time allocation.
