Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking passionate and driven midwives to join the Midwifery team on a fixed-term contract to enhance Maternity Services in Dumfries and Galloway. This consultant-led maternity unit oversees around 1000 births annually. The Birthing Suite contains 6 en-suite rooms equipped to support labour mobility, including 2 with birthing pools, alongside a 12-room Maternity ward with en-suite facilities designed to provide a homely environment. Our team is committed to delivering family-oriented, evidence-driven care throughout antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal stages in a 24-hour inpatient setting, operating in shifts of 6 or 12 hours.

Community midwifery operates from hubs regionally and supports a wider home birth program.

Work Arrangement and Location

Positions are available across inpatient, community, and hybrid working models, offering between 24 and 36 hours weekly on a fixed nine-month term. Dumfries and Galloway offers a serene and scenic workplace with ample outdoor activities and excellent transport links within Scotland and beyond. The team benefits from a supportive small-team environment and frequent social events.

Application Instructions and Candidate Information

Applicants are urged to ensure accurate email communication for application updates, and advised to use a desktop or tablet instead of mobile for the application process. Use of AI tools for inspiration or grammar checking is permitted but the application must authentically reflect your own knowledge and experience. Uploading CVs is unnecessary; full responses to application questions are required and must be unique and personally authored.

Vacancies may close early due to application volume; timely submission is recommended.
