Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction & Installation Supervisor specializing in Structural & Piping for offshore project sites within the Oil & Gas industry. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and coordinate all mechanical, piping, structural, and electrical/instrumentation construction and installation activities. This ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and strictly adheres to approved designs, industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory mandates. The position demands significant offshore construction expertise, a deep technical understanding, and the capability to manage diverse, multinational contractor teams in challenging operational environments.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND), or a Diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • A robust background in commissioning activities specifically for Oil & Gas projects.
  • Proven proficiency in construction management, effective communication, and adept conflict resolution.
  • Computer literacy coupled with excellent command of both verbal and written communication.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in construction and installation within the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Demonstrated track record in mechanical, piping, structural installation, and commissioning for offshore projects.
  • Familiarity with both Greenfield and Brownfield construction methodologies, including experience with Wellhead Jackets (WHJs).
  • A thorough understanding and practical application of construction best practices, systems, and processes.
  • Capability to interpret and critically review method statements, lifting plans, inspection and test plans (ITP), technical drawings, and construction schedules.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant engineering standards, quality control protocols, safety regulations, and environmental practices.
  • Previous experience collaborating with multinational and multicultural contractor teams.
  • Aptitude for identifying potential project issues, formulating practical solutions, and effectively managing site-specific constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Execution

  • Serve as the company's official representative on offshore facilities or contractor marine spreads, directing all project-related operations.
  • Provide direct supervision to the EPIC Contractor throughout the execution of mechanical and steel structure construction works across offshore fields.
  • Diligent monitoring of all construction activities to guarantee strict adherence to approved procedures, As-Found-Constructed (AFC) drawings, established standards, and project specifications.
  • Thorough review and approval of contractor-submitted method statements, construction schedules, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and work procedures.

Material & Documentation Control

  • Conduct and oversee comprehensive inspections of received materials, ensuring alignment with project drawings and specifications.
  • Generate formal reports for any damaged or missing materials as necessary.
  • Review detailed design drawings, method statements, and all inspection-related documentation.

Permits & Compliance

  • Manage and prepare work permits in the capacity of Permit Applicant, ensuring complete adherence to the company's electronic Permit to Work (e-PTW) system and verifying contractor compliance with all safety mandates.
  • Close coordination with Operations, Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ), and Contractor teams to ensure all work is conducted safely and in accordance with approved HSEQ procedures.

Coordination & Planning

  • Liaise effectively with asset holders to arrange site access and necessary preparations, including permits for hot works and other construction-related tasks.
  • Participate actively in daily planning meetings with asset owners to discuss work plans, track progress, and address any identified constraints.
  • Coordinate all aspects of offshore logistics, encompassing the movement of personnel and materials.

Quality Assurance & Testing

  • Supervise a range of mechanical and structural activities, including but not limited to: piping and valve installation, steel structure erection, lifting operations, blasting and painting, and hydrotesting/leak testing.
  • Perform and witness inspections in strict accordance with the approved Inspection and Test Plan (ITP).
  • Formally sign off on inspection records, quality control documentation, and test forms.

Mechanical Completion & Commissioning

  • Coordinate and lead Mechanical Completion Walkdowns involving contractors and end-users.
  • Generate detailed punch lists, diligently track their closure, and formally endorse Mechanical Completion Certificates.
  • Provide essential support to pre-commissioning and commissioning teams during functional testing and system readiness assessments.

Reporting

  • Maintain meticulous daily progress logs, promptly highlighting any anomalies, non-conformances, or deviations from contractual agreements.
  • Compile and submit comprehensive daily and weekly construction progress reports.
  • Review and validate the accuracy of contractor progress statements.

Additional Information:
This role is based offshore and requires extensive experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
