Job description

Role overview

A site and civil construction business is hiring an experienced Construction Estimator to support a wide mix of projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure work. The role focuses on building accurate, competitive, and complete cost estimates that help the team win work while staying aligned with project scope and client expectations.

What you will do

  • Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements to define scope and estimate resources for site/civil projects.
  • Build detailed cost estimates for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure assignments.
  • Develop, update, and use pricing databases and cost models to keep estimates current and market-competitive.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations and factor them into overall pricing.
  • Prepare and submit bids that are complete, compliant, and tailored to the project brief.
  • Handle change orders and adjust pricing accurately when scope or budget changes.
  • Use HCSS for estimating and project management, making sure estimate records are maintained correctly.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to support timely and accurate estimating.
  • Take part in project discussions and share input on cost-related matters.
  • Track project costs and budgets, and provide regular updates to leadership on cost performance and risks.

What we are looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience working as a Construction Estimator in site/civil construction.
  • Hands-on proficiency with HCSS software.
  • Strong understanding of bidding, pricing, and change order workflows.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational habits.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Poughkeepsie, New York, and the work is fully onsite.

Pay and benefits notes

The stated pay range is $150000.00 - $250000.00/hr.
