Job description

Overview

The CAD Technologist Specialist role is dedicated to assisting the Engineering team with the update and standardization of legacy technical documents. The main objective is to modernize older CAD drawings and fabrication documents by adapting them to present-day formats, templates, and standards to streamline manufacturing and engineering processes. This position provides practical exposure to industrial CAD drafting and the creation of engineering documentation within a structured environment.

Responsibilities

  • Revise and recreate existing legacy CAD drawings to align with current templates and standards.
  • Transform prior documentation into uniform, production-ready formats.
  • Draft and modify fabrication and assembly drawings as needed.
  • Update and ensure accuracy of bills of materials (BOMs) and associated documents.
  • Verify drawing precision, completeness, and uniformity.
  • Adhere to drafting standards, naming protocols, and revision control policies.
  • Collaborate under guidance from senior designers and engineers.
  • Participate in documentation cleanup and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related CAD discipline.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent software.
  • Capability to interpret mechanical drawings accurately.
  • High attention to detail coupled with strong organizational skills.
  • Comfort with detailed, documentation-intensive tasks.
  • Familiarity with following defined standards and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in drafting or within manufacturing setups.
  • Knowledge of fabrication or shop drawing standards.
  • Experience with bill of materials (BOM) management, document control, or revision tracking.

Working Conditions

This is an office-based role requiring regular communication with engineering personnel. The position follows a standard working schedule from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

Additional Information

  • Location: Scarborough, Ontario, Canada
  • Contract duration: Minimum 6 months with a strong possibility for extension
  • Work arrangement: Fully onsite, five days a week
