Job description
About the Role
Join Capital.com, a leading trading platform with award-winning technology and a stellar client experience, as a Compliance Manager and Deputy MLRO. This pivotal role involves managing the daily operations of Capital Vault UAE’s financial crime and compliance framework. You will be accountable for implementing robust AML/CFT controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, and acting as the principal deputy for the Head of Compliance and MLRO. The role offers a broad scope to engage across product, technology, and operations within the virtual assets sector, providing valuable exposure and career development toward a dedicated MLRO position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the transaction monitoring program: design and govern rules, prioritize alerts, calibrate thresholds, and utilize blockchain analytical tools to generate management information on alerts, closure rates, and suspicious activity report metrics.
- Manage suspicious activity reporting by reviewing escalated alerts, conducting investigations, creating detailed SAR/STR narratives, and timely submission to the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit, maintaining a comprehensive internal case register.
- Oversee KYC/CDD processes, including enhanced due diligence on high-risk clients such as politically exposed persons, active traders, and those from risky regions; provide expert guidance to onboarding teams for complex cases.
- Administer the sanctions screening procedures by assessing name-match alerts, documenting decisions, and escalating confirmed matches for MLRO review with recommendations.
- Serve as Deputy MLRO by assuming full MLRO duties during absences, including authorizing SARs, liaising with regulators like the CMA and UAEFIU, and providing board-level reports to maintain continuous oversight.
- Assist in regulatory submissions, inspection preparation, and responses; actively engage cross-functionally to embed AML and regulatory requirements into products, features, and client segments.
- Develop and deliver role-specific AML/CFT training to the organization, upkeep training records, and act as a subject matter expert on virtual asset financial crime trends and regulatory updates.
- Maintain and update compliance policies aligned with CMA rules, FATF guidance, and international best practices, ensuring ongoing relevance and compliance.
- Keep all compliance registers, regulatory calendars, and audit readiness documents current to support transparency and inspection preparedness.
- Monitor legal and regulatory changes in the UAE and internationally, updating internal controls, policies, and procedures promptly to meet evolving obligations.
- Support safeguarding crypto assets through implementation of technical and operational controls including wallet security and asset segregation protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Law, or a related discipline; postgraduate degrees such as an LLM or MBA are advantageous.
- Professional certifications like CAMS, CFCS, ICA, and CISI recognized by the CMA enhance candidacy.
- At least 4-5 years of direct AML, financial crime, and compliance experience in regulated financial services or virtual asset service providers, with proven transaction monitoring ownership.
- Strong knowledge of UAE CMA AML/CFT regulations including Cabinet Decision No. 134 of 2025, AML Law No. 10 of 2025, FATF recommendations, and CMA mandates for virtual asset providers.
- Hands-on familiarity with blockchain analytics platforms such as Chainalysis or Crystal Intelligence.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and filing suspicious transaction reports, preferably with UAEFIU involvement.
- Professional-level English communication skills are essential; proficiency in Arabic (written and spoken) is a considerable advantage.
Benefits
- Competitive salary reflecting your skills and expertise.
- Balanced work-life environment that respects personal time and commitments.
- Generous annual leave policy to encourage rejuvenation and personal pursuits.
- Employee referral incentives to reward bringing talented peers to the team.
- Inclusive health insurance and locale-specific perks to support your wellbeing.
- Flexible 'workation' opportunity allowing up to 30 additional days of remote work globally, subject to some limitations.
- Two paid volunteer days annually to contribute to meaningful community initiatives.
