About the Role
Join the Queensland Government's Community Recovery team as a Community Recovery Advisor. This role is crucial in coordinating local activities with key partner agencies to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster events. You will also contribute to business continuity and lessons management.
Community Recovery leads the human and social recovery efforts, focusing on resilience building. This includes delivering direct human and social support, emotional wellbeing services, and practical assistance when needed. The team also commissions medium and long-term support services through both internal departments and external funded non-government and local government partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of regional preparedness and response capabilities, including delivering training and facilitating exercises.
- Provide secretariat support to district disaster community recovery committees and maintain community recovery resources.
- Foster strong partnerships between departmental representatives on the Human Social Recovery Committee (HSRC), Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG), and District Disaster Management Group (DDMG), as well as regional networks, management committees, and local authorities to establish appropriate community recovery services.
- Assist in the creation and execution of regional community recovery strategic and operational (event-specific) plans.
- Coordinate the management and delivery of community recovery services during disaster events.
- Support the department's strategic and operational responses to issues identified by leadership and key disaster management stakeholders.
- Aid internal business processes for human and social recovery activities by strengthening governance systems and business practices.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the department's governance and objectives.
- Undertake other designated tasks as required.
