Manav Vikas Sansthan (MVS) is a secular, non-political voluntary organization founded in 1996 in the Kotdhar region of Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh. Operating from Kalol village, MVS works to enhance the quality of life and environment in rural and hilly areas across Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. Its major initiatives focus on empowering women and supporting youth employment through programs in sustainable agriculture, animal husbandry, and watershed management, collaborating with partners like NABARD, ITC, ACC, and government agencies. MVS is committed to advancing livelihood, financial, social, health, and educational security while conserving natural resources and improving sanitation.

Role Overview

The Community Mobilizer role, based on-site in Kapurthala, Punjab, involves direct engagement with rural communities and relevant stakeholders. The individual will conduct village-level meetings and awareness campaigns related to Self-Help Groups (SHGs), financial literacy, and livelihood schemes. The position requires identifying community challenges, aiding in the establishment and strengthening of SHGs and farmer groups, and liaising with government departments and partner entities to facilitate scheme rollout. Regular field data collection, preparing introductory reports, and providing feedback to project teams to enhance program effectiveness are essential duties. The role necessitates frequent field visits, building strong community relationships, and continuous follow-up to ensure successful execution of planned activities.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven ability in community engagement and mobilization, including facilitation of group meetings and outreach efforts.
• Experience in rural development sectors such as sustainable agriculture, watershed projects, or livelihood promotion.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with community members, local leaders, and institutional stakeholders.
• Basic competence in documentation, field data acquisition, and report generation.
• Familiarity with the socio-cultural context of Punjab and nearby areas; knowledge of local languages is advantageous.
• Educational background of at least secondary or higher secondary level; diplomas or degrees in social work, rural development, or related fields preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel within project villages and work in outdoor, rural environments with autonomous time management.
• A commitment to fostering gender equality, social inclusion, and upholding non-discriminatory practices in all interactions.
