Ideal candidates are those who possess a deep understanding of local ecosystems, flourish in collaborative environments, and enjoy creating impactful engagement from the ground level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and map stakeholders such as local organizations, civic groups, business associations, institutions, and community leaders to uncover partnership and engagement prospects.
  • Establish and nurture enduring partnerships with primary community contacts and develop tailored outreach plans for distinct stakeholder groups.
  • Devise strategies to engage target audience segments including new homeowners, parents, residents, and retirees at pivotal moments when local information is most relevant.
  • Design and oversee an ambassador program that provides internal teams with resources, messaging, and confidence to represent the brand authentically within their communities.
  • Create playbooks and training materials covering community event participation, newsletter expansion, public speaking, and meaningful brand dialogue.
  • Collaborate with content teams to spotlight individuals who can enhance community profiles and boost visibility through genuine interactions.
  • Maintain consistent brand experiences across multiple locations while respecting each community’s unique character and requirements.
  • Plan and implement scalable virtual and in-person events, grassroots campaigns, and initiatives aimed at audience growth.
  • Monitor performance metrics, analyze engagement outcomes, and refine strategies based on insights.
  • Report on brand metrics including awareness, subscriber growth, partnerships, and community sentiment to leadership.
  • Target areas with lower brand recognition or engagement, devising plans to reinforce local presence.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of five years in community engagement, stakeholder relationship management, brand marketing, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated capability to form and sustain relationships with diverse community groups, organizations, or partner entities.
  • Proven success in designing and executing campaigns that boost audience engagement and growth.
  • Experience in developing training programs, coaching teams, and producing practical resources or playbooks.
  • Strong insight into building local trust, credibility, and fostering community connections.
  • Excellent communication and presentation talents capable of influencing and inspiring others.
  • Proficient in using data analytics to evaluate outcomes, recognize trends, and optimize engagement strategies.
  • Strong project management aptitude for coordinating cross-functional projects.
  • Genuine interest in local communities, ecosystems, and modes of social connection.
  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful mindset that thrives on creativity and adaptability.
  • Authentic communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and resilience in relationship cultivation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Community Development, Journalism, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience related to local media, community organizations, Ontario markets, digital engagement platforms, newsletters, or subscriber-based services is advantageous.

Benefits and Work Culture

  • Entirely remote work setup with potential travel across southern and central Ontario.
  • Chance to shape and define a newly created position focused on community engagement strategy.
  • Opportunity to make a significant difference by strengthening the bond between communities and trusted local information providers.
  • Collaborative workplace culture that embraces inclusion, professional growth, and teamwork success.
  • Engage with a variety of community types and pioneer innovative grassroots marketing approaches.
  • Combine strategic planning, relationship cultivation, and creative implementation in a role with meaningful impact.
