About the Role
Rasmussen State School is seeking Community Education Counsellors to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in reaching stronger educational outcomes. In this role, you will work alongside students, families, and the broader school community to strengthen participation, wellbeing, and achievement.
This opportunity is with an inclusive Prep to Year 6 Independent Public School located in the Upper Ross area of Townsville. The school is guided by the vision “I Belong, We Belong, All Belong” and places strong emphasis on student wellbeing, high expectations, and positive partnerships with families and the local community.
Role Details
- There are 2 part-time openings.
- Each role is 0.6 FTE.
- Each role is equivalent to 43.5 hours per fortnight.
- Position 1 is temporary from 26/07/2026 to 11/12/2026.
- Position 2 is temporary from 21/01/2027 to 09/12/2029.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver educational counselling and support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and students across multiple schools.
- Help plan and take part in activities inside and outside school that strengthen student and family engagement in education.
- Create and implement support programs tailored to the needs of the relevant school or schools, with the aim of improving educational participation.
- Build and maintain connections with external information sources and support services that can assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and students.
