Role overview

The Ritz-Carlton, Doha is looking for a Commis 3 - Pastry to join its Food and Beverage & Culinary team at the West Bay Lagoon property in Doha, Qatar. This is a full-time, non-management position based on-site in a luxury resort setting known for refined hospitality, exceptional service, and a strong culture of excellence.

The property offers guests 374 rooms and suites, award-winning restaurants, a spa and fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, a private beach, a Club Lounge, and dedicated event spaces. The role sits within a hospitality environment where attention to quality, presentation, safety, and guest satisfaction is essential.

What the role involves

You will support the pastry kitchen by preparing and cooking food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and prep checklists. The job includes handling ingredients before use, using baking and measuring tools correctly, maintaining food safety, monitoring temperatures, and keeping the kitchen clean and organized throughout the shift.

You are also expected to follow company procedures, maintain professional appearance and conduct, protect confidential information, support team members, and carry out reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.

Key expectations

  • Prepare pastry and food items in line with recipes, portioning standards, presentation rules, and preparation lists.
  • Handle ingredients properly by chopping, portioning, and storing them before cooking.
  • Use baking equipment, measuring tools, and appliances safely and correctly.
  • Follow hygiene, sanitation, and food-handling requirements at all times.
  • Check appliance and food temperatures and escalate any issues to management.
  • Clean, wash, disinfect, set up, and close down the work area as required.
  • Monitor food quality and portion control throughout the shift.
  • Comply with safety, security, and training requirements, including reporting incidents or unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a neat, professional appearance and uphold confidentiality.
  • Communicate clearly, work well with others, and support team goals.
  • Carry out additional duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and experience

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred for this role. The position requires less than 1 year of related work experience. No supervisory experience is needed, and no license or certification is required.

Work conditions and physical demands

The role may require you to move, lift, carry, push, pull, or place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance. You should also be comfortable working on uneven, sloping, or slippery surfaces, reaching above and below knee level, bending, twisting, stooping, and standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
