Life Guard

Role Overview

This position is for a lifeguard at The Ritz-Carlton in Manama, Bahrain, within the Golf, Fitness, & Entertainment area. The role is a full-time, non-management position based on site.

What You Will Do

• Keep watch over the pool or swimming area and act quickly when a swimmer needs help.
• Use the correct rescue methods when someone is in danger.
• Look out for unsafe behavior, dangerous conditions, and guests who may be struggling in the water.
• Explain and uphold the rules of the recreation area.
• Judge when a guest may not be able to safely take part in an activity and inform a supervisor or manager.
• Help injured guests until emergency medical services arrive.
• Help create a welcoming, enjoyable, and relaxing environment for guests.
• Collect, fold, and stack towels according to company process.
• Clean the pool deck by washing and mopping it.

Standards and Work Expectations

You will be expected to report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management, and to complete required safety training and certifications. The job also requires you to follow company policies, protect confidential information, safeguard company property, and work with care and professionalism when interacting with guests and teammates. You should greet guests respectfully, maintain a neat personal appearance, support people with disabilities, communicate clearly, and treat coworkers with dignity. You may also be asked to inspect equipment, respond quickly to work situations, and perform additional duties as needed.

Physical Requirements

The role calls for the ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods or an entire shift. You may need to move quickly, run, walk, or jog; lift, carry, push, pull, and place items up to 50 pounds alone and more than 75 pounds with assistance; and handle objects of different sizes and weights with good hand-eye coordination. You should also be able to move on slippery or uneven surfaces, climb ladders, stairs, and service ramps, and bend, twist, pull, stoop, reach overhead, and reach below the knees.

Preferred Background

A high school diploma or GED is preferred. No prior related work experience or supervisory experience is required.

Required Certifications

Applicants must have CPR certification and First Aid certification, along with any additional training or certification required by local and state agencies. Fitness equipment certification is also listed as a requirement.
