Role overview
This position is for a Commercial Officer in the Civil Aerospace Customer Regional Team, covering Asia Pacific and Greater China. The role is located at the Singapore Customer Service Centre and sits within the General Counsel function. It reports to the Vice President, Commercial – Asia Pacific & Greater China.
What you will do
- Work on opportunities that improve profit and cash outcomes for the business, including pricing and business case support where needed.
- Prepare, manage, and administer new business agreements to help secure commercial opportunities.
- Handle claims, disputes, and litigation discussions with customers across Asia Pacific and Greater China to reduce cost and risk, while also managing any market perception concerns.
- Oversee customer restructurings, rehabilitations, and insolvency matters through to closure, aiming for the best business result.
- Run internal approval meetings related to the issues being managed so customer responses can be delivered without delay.
- Spot commercial risks and liabilities in contracts or proposed solutions, and negotiate contract changes to reduce exposure while balancing business and legal needs.
- Work with specialist internal teams to get advice and guidance, then assess and apply that input appropriately.
- Make sure all work follows company policies, procedures, guidelines, and contracting controls in line with governance requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and commercial best-practice initiatives across the business and the General Counsel function.
- Keep communication clear, accurate, and frequent across internal stakeholders on all matters in progress.
Requirements
- A degree or an equivalent qualification is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport, use diplomacy, communicate clearly, influence others, and negotiate effectively.
- Capability to work through complex problems while keeping the customer in mind.
- Self-driven, motivated, and able to operate independently.
- Good commercial judgement and solid business awareness.
- Strong administrative ability across all related tasks.
- Able to prioritise work and deliver against tight deadlines.
- Experience influencing stakeholders at multiple levels, both internally and externally.
