Role overview
This role supports the Head of Commercial by turning data into practical recommendations that help the business meet its objectives. The position focuses on market intelligence, financial evaluation, performance tracking, and stakeholder coordination to improve commercial decision-making and identify opportunities for growth.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head of Commercial to deliver analysis and recommendations aligned with business goals.
- Carry out detailed market and financial studies to support informed decisions and uncover growth avenues.
- Prepare clear, well-structured reports for stakeholders, highlighting findings, patterns, and actions.
- Track and predict financial indicators tied to contracts, budgets, and overall business results.
- Review the effect of commercial initiatives and suggest changes that can strengthen outcomes.
- Create and maintain tracking tools and models for monitoring data and performance.
- Make sure commercial activities comply with company policies and relevant industry rules.
- Engage with stakeholders to gather, verify, and present data used in project management and business operations.
Market and competitor analysis
- Perform thorough market research and trend forecasting to support commercial choices.
- Identify new opportunities and emerging developments in the market.
- Review competitor pricing, product positioning, and wider commercial approaches.
- Translate market intelligence into insights that support business development and strategic planning.
Pricing and profitability management
- Build and use financial models that align with business objectives and commercial strategy.
- Assess pricing frameworks, discount approaches, and margin performance to improve profitability.
- Support initiatives aimed at pricing optimization.
Data analysis and reporting
- Use visualization and reporting tools to present complex information in a simple, stakeholder-friendly format.
- Develop dashboards and reports that monitor commercial metrics and turn data into actionable insight.
- Present analysis and recommendations to senior management.
Commercial performance analysis
- Examine sales results, revenue movement, and profitability across products, customers, and regions.
- Create financial models to evaluate commercial initiatives and pricing strategies.
- Monitor KPIs linked to sales growth, margins, and customer acquisition.
Strategic planning
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities.
- Spot operational improvements and revenue-enhancement opportunities.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects that drive commercial expansion.
New service innovation
- Contribute ideas for new services where relevant and work with clients on partnership-based solutions.
- Develop internal business cases to support innovation ideas and assess feasibility for future service offerings.
Knowledge, skills, and experience
- Confident professional communicator who can interact with senior client stakeholders using the right level of detail, language, and tone.
- Working understanding of the company’s services.
- Exposure to shared-services environments is an advantage.
- Account management experience is preferred.
- Strong planning and organizing ability, with the capacity to keep the broader picture in mind.
- Comfortable, personable client-facing style with a proactive and positive attitude.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Proven background in data analysis and reporting within commercial or contract management settings.
- Advanced use of analytical tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Overall experience of 2–5+ years in business analysis, commercial analytics, or financial analysis.
