Job description
About the Role
The Brisbane Australia Temple is looking to hire a permanent part-time Clothing Clerk, responsible for maintaining temple clothing and related linens to ensure all patrons and workers have access to clean and well-maintained apparel. This role reports to the Clothing Supervisor and requires working 38 hours per fortnight on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Politely assist temple visitors in selecting appropriately sized clothing and ensure inventory levels are sufficient
- Fold and prepare packets including robes, aprons, veils, caps, and sashes, and supply clothing to the baptistry as directed
- Operate sewing machines for resizing, mending, and altering garments; keep the sewing area organized and oversee supplies
- Handle commercial laundry duties such as sorting soiled garments, spot cleaning with suitable products, assisting with steam pressing, and maintaining cleanliness in work areas
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on laundry machines by cleaning filters, vents, and screens daily
Working Hours
The position requires availability from Tuesday to Saturday, with flexibility across morning, afternoon, and evening shifts. Scheduling adjustments may occur during maintenance closures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum one year of laundry-related or similar relevant experience
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining laundry equipment, including routine cleaning of machinery and filters
- Experience in ironing, folding, and assisting with sewing tasks
- Knowledge of health and safety practices related to handling cleaning agents and chemicals
- Physical capability to lift items up to 14 kilograms
- Enthusiasm to learn, grow professionally, and perform additional tasks as requested
