Job description

About the organisation

Healthcare Academy of New Zealand (HANZ) is a pioneering health education provider in Aotearoa and was the first private training organisation to deliver Enrolled Nurse education in New Zealand. From its Auckland base, it is focused on preparing the next generation of nursing and health professionals through programmes built around high standards and cultural competence.

HANZ is part of Yoobee Colleges Limited, New Zealand’s largest Private Training Establishment, which supports around 7,000 students across five schools, colleges, and academies.

Role overview

The organisation is seeking a Clinical Tutor in Nursing for its Auckland CBD campus. This is a permanent, part-time position based onsite at HANZ Auckland Central Campus, with a weekly commitment of 18.75 hours.

The successful applicant will help deliver the Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5), supporting learners in class and during clinical placements. The role focuses on helping students connect theory with practice, strengthen core nursing capability, and meet the Nursing Council competencies needed for registration.

Teaching and clinical support

  • Provide engaging teaching sessions in both in-person and online formats.
  • Support clinical learning in practical settings alongside workplace preceptors.
  • Guide learners so they can meet academic standards and clinical expectations.
  • Review learner progress and assess readiness for final Nursing Council examinations.
  • Work with the Clinical Placement Coordinator and placement partners to maintain a smooth and effective learning experience.

Programme and quality contribution

  • Take part in curriculum development and ongoing programme enhancement.
  • Help uphold high standards across clinical placements and learner support.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical partners to ensure strong placement quality.

About the ideal candidate

HANZ is looking for a motivated clinician who values education and wants to support the development of future nurses. The right person will be comfortable teaching in varied settings, able to communicate well across cultures, and committed to balancing academic knowledge with practical training.

Additional information

HANZ promotes a diverse, inclusive, and supportive workplace where people of all genders, ethnicities, identities, perspectives, and experiences are welcomed. The team is described as fast-moving, action-oriented, innovative, and collaborative, with a workplace culture that is intended to be both inspiring and enjoyable.

The role is presented as an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to healthcare education, grow professionally through learning and mentorship, and support learners in achieving their goals.

The employer also notes that identity-related questions are used to better understand applicant diversity and to help attract candidates whose backgrounds and perspectives reflect those of the student body. HANZ states that it is an equal opportunity employer committed to equity, a fair interview process, and an inclusive work environment.
