Role Overview
This role entails providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for complex global clinical research and evidence development programs, ensuring that projects are successfully executed from initial planning stages through to completion. The individual will manage budgets, timelines, compliance, client relationships, and team leadership in an international and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple global clinical research projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Lead and mentor project managers and cross-functional teams to promote collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
- Manage project plans, financials, resource allocation, forecasting, invoicing, and contracts to achieve strong operational and commercial results.
- Cultivate trusted client relationships, act as senior operational contact, lead governance meetings, and proactively resolve issues.
- Implement risk management strategies to identify, mitigate, and monitor potential project challenges throughout their lifecycle.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards, including ICH-GCP, FDA, EMA, GDPR, and others.
- Support business development efforts via proposal assistance, budget preparation, presentations, bid defenses, and client relationship expansion.
- Drive operational improvements by developing processes, supporting resource planning, participating in hiring and performance reviews, and promoting best practices across project delivery.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Healthcare, Business, or a related field; advanced degree such as Master’s or PhD preferred.
- 12 to 15 years of experience in clinical research operations within CROs, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device sectors.
- Minimum of 10 years in progressive project management or clinical operations leadership, including management of global clinical programs.
- Strong background as Project Director, Clinical Operations Director, or similar senior leadership role is highly valued.
- At least 5 years of experience managing and developing multidisciplinary teams.
- Deep understanding of global clinical development, evidence generation programs, project management methodologies, and operational processes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international regulations and industry standards such as ICH-GCP, FDA, EMA, EU Clinical Trials Regulation, GDPR, etc.
- Proven skills in budget management, financial forecasting, contract negotiation, resource planning, and oversight of vendors.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Familiarity with project management tools and Microsoft Office suite.
- Availability for up to 10% international travel as needed.
