Job description

Overview

Join Capable, a dynamic and mission-focused team based in San Francisco, featuring professionals from prestigious institutions like MIT, Harvard Medical School, Roche, ETH, and Dana-Farber. We thrive on speed, rigor, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic. Operating in an early-stage setting, we seek individuals who can clarify ambiguous challenges, take initiative, and diligently drive progress.

At Capable Labs, ambitious and principled team members are empowered to grow significantly in their roles. Our environment offers close collaboration and feedback from key scientific and executive leaders, allowing team members to own critical projects and decisions. We reward exceptional contributions with meaningful trust and responsibility, earned through demonstrated judgment and effective delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and negotiate with vendors effectively regarding timelines, deliverables, and budgets, employing critical assessment to optimize project execution without sacrificing quality.
  • Develop and nurture strong partnerships with clinical investigators, site staff, coordinators, vendors, and external specialists to establish Capable as a preferred collaborator.
  • Proactively identify and address potential operational challenges such as contract delays, enrollment issues, unclear roles, communication gaps, data delays, sample handling risks, vendor transitions, and protocol uncertainties before they impact progress.
  • Collaborate closely with founders, medical scientists, clinicians, regulatory consultants, and partners to design studies that yield reliable, decision-quality human data.
  • Identify, assess, and manage clinical trial sites and a wide range of vendors including laboratories, manufacturers, pharmacies, Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), ensuring efficient, rigorous study execution.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated success in leading multiple clinical trials from start to finish including site activation, execution oversight, data management, and study closeout; experience in guiding therapies through clinical development to market approval is ideal.
  • Highly organized with strong execution skills to maintain momentum through consistent follow-ups on site activation, vendor coordination, contracts, participant visits, sample logistics, and expert consultations when necessary.
  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities enabling trust-building with investigators, coordinators, vendors, and internal teams while maintaining high standards.
  • Expertise in critically evaluating vendor proposals concerning timelines, budgets, and scopes, negotiating viable adjustments, challenging assumptions, and sourcing improved or expedited alternatives.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary range from $135,000 to $300,000 annually, supplemented with equity options valued approximately between $50,000 and $200,000 prior to exercise costs, taxes, or dilution.
  • Compensation is flexible and based on your expertise, experience, and level of impact, with openness to discuss arrangements beyond the nominal range depending on contribution and fit.
  • Monthly wellness allowance exceeding $500 to support personal health through training, supplements, coaching, recovery tools, and other performance-enhancing resources.
  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits including medical, dental, and vision plans fully covered by the company’s base policy.
  • Additional financial benefits include Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), and 401(k) plans.
  • Daily nutritious dinners provided for all team members.
  • Support for employment visa sponsorships covering O-1, H-1B, J-1, TN, and other pathways; our team includes members from countries such as Canada, Pakistan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, China, India, and the USA.

Our hiring approach is swift, transparent, and personal, focusing on understanding the individual behind the resume. The stages include an initial application, two phone interviews, and an in-person trial experience in San Francisco with the founding team designed to assess compatibility and working dynamics.
