Job description

Overview

This Clinical Fellowship offers a distinctive chance to develop expertise at one of the UK's premier tertiary respiratory and lung cancer centers, based at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). The post allows collaboration with leading national and international specialists in lung cancer, EBUS, interventional bronchoscopy, and robotic bronchoscopy, gaining comprehensive experience along the whole diagnostic pathway.

Responsibilities

The fellow will engage in a high-volume service conducting over 1,000 bronchoscopic procedures yearly, including advanced diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and participate in one of the UK's pioneering robotic bronchoscopy programs. Duties include supporting lung cancer diagnosis, pulmonary nodule evaluation, bronchoscopy, EBUS sessions, multidisciplinary lung cancer clinics, and meetings, with an expectation to run sessions independently or with minimal supervision after a brief training period.

Collaboration with consultants, nurses, radiologists, pathologists, and research teams is essential to ensure prompt diagnosis and excellent patient-centered care. The role also involves participation in governance, audits, quality improvements, education, and potential involvement in clinical research and trial recruitment activities.

Candidate Profile

This position suits a proactive senior respiratory trainee aiming for specialized experience in lung cancer and advanced bronchoscopy. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical decision-making, effective communication skills, eagerness to learn, and the ability to function well within multidisciplinary teams.
