Role Overview

This position entails delivering administrative and analytical support aimed at maintaining the efficiency of the climate change and energy management division. Key duties involve gathering and analyzing data related to energy usage across municipal facilities, conducting research to uncover relevant energy-saving and climate adaptation programs, and aiding in the development and implementation of conservation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather comprehensive energy consumption metrics, including electricity, natural gas (via Enbridge), water usage, and electric vehicle charging data from city properties.
  • Leverage Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools to organize, visualize, and interpret the compiled data.
  • Research current incentives and programs aimed at energy efficiency and climate change adaptation.
  • Assist in generating reports and presentations that convey insights and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support and participate in the creation and deployment of energy conservation projects.
  • Coordinate with diverse city departments to guarantee accurate and timely data collection and reporting.
  • Remain current on industry developments and evolving trends in climate change mitigation and energy management.
  • Perform additional duties aligned with departmental objectives and organizational protocols, including adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and corporate policies.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, with strong keyboarding skills and openness to learning specialized software.
  • Strong capabilities in research, data analysis, and communication, with demonstrated ability to prepare formal correspondence, reports, and presentations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage courteously and productively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with robust organizational skills and a high level of self-motivation.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Background or coursework related to energy management and sustainability concepts.
  • Familiarity with energy consumption measurement techniques and data collection protocols.
  • Awareness of energy-saving initiatives and financial incentives.
  • Experience using RETScreen or comparable energy management and sustainability analysis software is advantageous.
