About the Role

Join Jacobs as a Clerk of Works and contribute to a major infrastructure project in Dublin. Your core responsibilities will include ensuring that construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in strict adherence to contractual, specification, and regulatory requirements. This role places you at the heart of site operations where you will provide assurance on workmanship and quality, act as a liaison among site teams, project leaders, and stakeholders, and aid in establishing and leading the Engineering Assurance function within the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the NEC4 Project Supervisor in managing all construction assurance tasks on site.
  • Conduct detailed inspections and monitor quality, workmanship, and safety for civil engineering tasks such as earthworks, drainage, bridge, and structural works.
  • Ensure all on-site work complies fully with Works Requirements, specifications, Irish Building Regulations, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Support and help lead the Engineering Assurance sub-function to maintain high technical standards.
  • Participate in financial, resource, and scheduling aspects of project planning.
  • Oversee and coordinate daily activities of the Clerk of Works team members.
  • Serve as a primary contact between site operations, project core teams, and key stakeholders.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration among consultants and client groups.
  • Contribute to regular reporting aligned with governance and Project Management Office (PMO) requirements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and adoption of best practices on site.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

  • Over five years of experience in construction management or supervision, particularly on large-scale road or infrastructure projects.
  • A thorough understanding of civil and structural engineering works with the ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Familiarity with Irish Building Regulations, planning procedures, and health and safety obligations.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-driven mindset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to develop effective professional relationships.
  • Capability to handle multiple priorities and contribute actively to team leadership.
  • Educational requirement: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Valid Safepass certification is mandatory.
  • Chartered, Incorporated, or Associate Engineer status is preferred or in progress.
