Job description

Role overview

ABM UK is hiring a Cleaning Team Leader for the Dolphin Centre in Poole. This full-time onsite position runs from Wednesday to Saturday, with a 39-hour weekly schedule. Pay is competitive.

In this role, you will help the Soft Services Manager and Centre Operations Manager run the contract effectively, ensuring all activity follows company policies and procedures. The job calls for someone who can lead and motivate a team, work well with others, and stay effective in a busy, physically demanding environment focused on cleaning and waste removal services. The team is described as driven, energetic, and collaborative, with a friendly workplace culture.

Main duties

  • Lead and support the cleaning team to deliver a high standard of service across all internal and external areas of the shopping centre.
  • Clean and maintain toilets, restrooms, showers, lifts, mirrors, stainless steel surfaces, floors, and other assigned areas.
  • Empty waste, sanitise fixtures, keep areas organised, and ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are set up and maintained properly.
  • Respond quickly to spillages and client call-outs, and help Centre Managers when required to maintain service levels.
  • Train team members on ride-on sweepers, scrubber-dryers, and other cleaning equipment, while making sure all equipment remains clean, safe, and in working order.
  • Supervise the team during shifts, offer guidance, and act as the onsite point of contact for ABM when the Soft Services Manager is unavailable.
  • Work proactively, support colleagues where possible, and take on additional reasonable duties as operational needs require.
  • Help with public evacuations and other centre-related support tasks when needed.

Health, safety, and standards

  • Carry out all cleaning work in line with Dolphin and ABM standards so quality expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and take personal responsibility for your own safety and the safety of others.
  • Ensure PPE is worn by you and your team and that all work complies with relevant health and safety legislation and policies.
  • Wear the company uniform at all times to protect the centre's professional image.
  • Take part in monthly training sessions delivered by the supervisor or line manager.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, have strong communication skills, and be able to stay organised under pressure in a very busy retail environment. A reliable, flexible, courteous, and proactive approach is important, along with discretion and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
