Job description

Role Overview

The Head of Finance role is a senior leadership position accountable for overseeing financial management, commercial support, governance, and strategic planning related to the London Heathrow Passenger Reduced Mobility Services (PRS) contract within the Transport & Aviation Division of ABM UK. This position ensures financial robustness across the PRS contract to enhance contract profitability and support business growth while aligning closely with operational teams and corporate stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary finance partner for the Heathrow PRS contract and leadership team, providing strategic financial advice to influence operational and commercial decisions.
  • Develop strong collaborative relationships with operational managers, contract directors, and Heathrow Airport finance stakeholders to convert financial insights into actionable operational strategies.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Produce monthly financial reports, perform variance analyses, and provide commentary on financial performance.
  • Identify and suggest opportunities to increase profitability, enhance efficiency, and optimize cash flow.
  • Develop financial models and conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to support contractual decisions and business proposals.
  • Ensure full compliance with Heathrow Airport's financial contractual obligations and support contract negotiations, including pricing reviews and amendments.
  • Monitor financial and commercial KPIs, assess associated risks and opportunities relating to service delivery and contractual performance, and assist with service mobilisation.
  • Maintain sound financial controls, ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards, and oversee financial risk management activities.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and cost and balance sheet management.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to analyze labour costs, productivity metrics, and operational performance, contributing financial insights for workforce planning and continuous improvement projects.
  • Engage with senior leadership and external stakeholders including Heathrow finance and commercial teams as well as Corporate Finance, HR, Procurement, Payroll, and Shared Services, supporting board-level and executive presentations.
  • Drive a high-performance team culture emphasizing accountability, improvement, and commercial excellence.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant credential (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Extensive senior finance leadership experience within complex operational environments.
  • Strong expertise in commercial finance and effective business partnering.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale service contracts with P&L accountability.
  • Advanced capabilities in financial modelling, forecasting, and analytical evaluation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial controls, governance, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder relationship, and influencing skills at senior levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance teams.
  • Desirable experience includes aviation, facilities management, transport, outsourcing or airport operations, handling public-sector or regulated contracts, knowledge of Heathrow Airport’s operational services, and working with labour-intensive frontline operations.
