Cleaning Services Worker I

Role overview

This position supports laundry and linen handling operations by running finishing equipment for flatwork and tumble-dried items, keeping assigned areas clean, and making sure processed linen is ready for client and operational use.

Key duties

• Sort incoming soiled linen into the correct categories.
• Use an automatic cart washer when needed and remove carts once they exit the washer.
• Run flatwork ironers and small-piece folding equipment, then fold linen according to established standards.
• Handle specialty items as part of the linen-finishing process.
• Check product quality and make sure linen meets the standards set for each customer.
• Escalate questions or issues to the lead or supervisor.
• Label linen distribution carts correctly and cover carts before they are transported.
• Fold and store linen in a way that helps preserve cleanliness.
• Help load linen and other materials onto the truck with the driver.
• Report supply levels or shortages to the lead or supervisor.
• Keep the work area clean, orderly, and properly maintained.

Qualifications

Experience in a fast-paced laundry environment is an advantage. The role calls for someone who can work well with others, pay close attention to detail, manage multiple tasks, follow instructions and procedures, speak clearly, operate relevant equipment, and stay organized.

Work conditions

This job can involve lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and long periods of walking or standing. Uniforms may be required, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may also be necessary.

Potential exposures

Work may involve exposure to infectious disease, electrical equipment, burns, blood contact, heat and humidity, mechanical equipment, and sharps.
