Job Overview
The Department of Highways and Public Works invites applications for one permanent full-time Cleaning Attendant position located in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory. This role involves working 80 hours biweekly on a rotation schedule as part of the Property Management team dedicated to maintaining Yukon government facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine floor care and comprehensive cleaning to maintain hygienic environments.
- Sanitize government facilities and surrounding areas according to departmental standards.
- Carry out snow removal duties as necessary during appropriate seasons.
- Identify and report maintenance and safety issues within multi-use buildings.
- Operate janitorial equipment and tools safely and effectively.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with both light and heavy cleaning tasks, including use of cleaning machinery.
- Background in minor maintenance work within multi-purpose facilities.
- Completion of security clearance requirements including Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Compliance with WHMIS certification within three months of hiring.
- Mandatory adherence to use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during work.
