Job description
Role Overview
Boulder Imaging is looking for an Avian Data Operations Coordinator to support the advancement of its vision-based inspection technology. In this role, you will handle avian image classification and quality checks for data arriving from a worldwide Identiflight network, while also supporting biodiversity-related work. You will partner with Identiflight Application Engineers to keep track of the performance and overall health of avian study sites across the network.
Key Responsibilities
- Review avian imagery from international sites and assign the correct bird classifications.
- Carry out quality assurance by examining “birds in buckets” and fixing classification errors.
- Support biodiversity projects by helping with documentation, training resources, and upkeep of the Master Species List.
- Monitor the status of study-site systems, and record updates, outages, and other changes promptly.
- Use Microsoft Windows-based tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in day-to-day work.
- Learn and work with proprietary tools used for data collection and related tasks.
Experience and Education
The role prefers candidates with at least 1 year of experience in imagery classification. An associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and 4 years of relevant experience is acceptable. A bachelor’s degree in Biology, Zoology, Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or a similar scientific discipline is preferred.
Skills and Qualities
Strong learning ability, analytical thinking, troubleshooting skills, a collaborative attitude, and clear verbal and written communication are important. Interest in wind energy and wildlife conservation is considered an advantage.
