Job description
About the Team
Individual Insurance, also called In-force Management (IFM), supports around 100,000 clients by maintaining policies, processing policy payments, and guiding families through the death claim journey for individual life insurance policies.
Sun Life is seeking a Claims Administrator to join the Individual Claims function. Part-time working will also be considered for suitable candidates.
The team values people who bring initiative, curiosity, and a strong desire to grow. In this role, you will help manage the client experience from the moment a claim is reported until final settlement. The focus is on settling claims accurately, fairly, and as quickly as possible.
Role Overview
This position is suited to someone who is self-driven, organised, and comfortable managing detailed administrative work with limited supervision. Full training will be provided, but you should be confident working independently and making decisions within set procedures and guidelines.
Once you join the Claims Team, you will receive structured, on-the-job training with support from your team leader, manager, and colleagues. Training will be delivered in stages across the full claim lifecycle, including the technical elements needed to build confidence in the role.
You will also benefit from a strong support network throughout your development.
Key Duties
- Take death notifications and explain the documents and next steps needed from clients.
- Handle claims promptly while meeting service-level commitments.
- Maintain clear communication and follow SOX, state, and other regulatory standards.
- Spot possible risks or suspicious cases and escalate them when required.
- Use the internal knowledge base to support claims handling decisions and processes.
- Work with internal teams such as Legal and Compliance when support is needed.
- Be trained on follow-up actions for death claims and related transactions.
- Develop working relationships across departments to respond effectively to client needs.
- Contribute to team projects when opportunities come up.
- Take part in career development opportunities within Sun Life.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings strong administrative capability, attention to detail, and a professional approach to sensitive conversations by phone and in writing. You should be comfortable prioritising multiple tasks, collaborating with different stakeholders, and working independently to solve problems.
A third-level qualification is preferred but not essential. At least 1 year of experience in an administrative role with a strong focus on accuracy is required. Prior claims experience is highly desirable, and experience or knowledge of the life insurance industry is an added advantage.
Benefits
- 22 days of annual leave, increasing to 25 days with length of service.
- Maternity, paternity, and parental leave.
- Annual gym reimbursement of €275.
- Annual bonus linked to company and individual performance.
- Private health insurance for employees at 100% coverage, plus 50% contribution for family members from the date of hire.
- S&S Club, wellness programme, GP scheme, flu vaccinations, eye care scheme, and access to discounted events and classes.
- Defined contribution pension scheme.
Additional Information
This role falls under the Claims - Life & Disability category.
