About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Civils Site Engineer for a permanent full-time position on a cutting-edge Hyperscale Data Centre development project based in Groningen, Netherlands. The role operates on a FIFO basis from Ireland, offering a competitive and comprehensive compensation package designed to significantly reduce living expenses while working abroad.
The contract includes a structured roster of 17 days on site followed by 4 days off, ensuring all weekends are free for rest. This is a key position with a Tier 1 contractor, supporting some of the most advanced technical construction environments.
Compensation and Benefits
- Gross base salary ranging between €45,000 and €65,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Establish site works in alignment with detailed drawings, specifications, and surveys
- Collaborate with planning teams to synchronize project timelines and supplier schedules
- Inspect ongoing materials and construction to ensure conformity with defined standards
- Assist with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and confirm that supply chains provide necessary test certification
- Liaise to resolve Requests for Information (RFIs) with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies
- Manage quality control documentation according to method statements and inspection protocols
- Review subcontractor drawings and enforce contractual and specification compliance
- Ensure purchase orders comprehensively describe technical and quality expectations
- Conduct recurring audits of delivery performance and compliance
- Encourage and implement digital solutions in construction and project management to enhance quality and efficiency
- Mentor junior engineers fostering their skill development and professional growth
- Support quantity surveyor with measurements and valuation data input
- Maintain detailed site diaries and produce accurate progress and quality status reports
- Perform pre-start condition surveys documenting existing site conditions
- Oversee and document delivery and management of construction materials such as concrete and reinforcement
- Assist with setting up temporary site facilities including hoardings and compounds
- Conduct snagging and de-snagging inspections prior to project completion
- Review safety plans and prepare method statements to uphold safe working procedures
- Continuously develop personal expertise while guiding others through knowledge sharing
Experience and Skills Required
- Minimum of three years’ relevant experience post qualification in the sector or project environment
- Sound understanding of engineering principles and experience in technical coordination
- Proficient in site setting out using tools like total stations, EDMs, lasers, and dumpy levels
- Competent in inspecting and verifying specialized work packages such as drainage and reinforcement installation
- Excellent communication and numerical skills with the ability to generate clear, objective reports
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to remain resilient in challenging situations
- Experience across multiple trades including piling, geotechnical works, substructures, superstructures, and facades
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with capability to influence senior management
- Analytical mindset able to adapt methods to evolving project requirements
- Knowledge or certification in Temporary Works coordination is advantageous
- Familiarity with BIM technologies, including 3D scanning or point cloud data interpretation
Educational and Professional Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering
- Certifications including SMSTS, MSIC, First Aid, Lifting Supervisor, Temporary Works Coordinator
- Chartered status or progress towards membership with Engineers Ireland or the Institution of Civil Engineers
- Additional desirable qualifications such as Project Management certification, planning software training, and current driving license
