Job description
About the Role
Join our dedicated Civil Construction team to support the building and maintenance of roads, bridges, and other infrastructure across one of Queensland's most scenic regions. This role involves active outdoor work contributing directly to the safety and functionality of local community facilities.
Key Duties
- Assist in the construction, upkeep, and repair of roads, drainage systems, bridges, footpaths, and parks.
- Participate in pothole repairs, grading support tasks, drainage projects, concreting, and pavement maintenance.
- Safely handle hand tools, power tools, and small plant equipment linked to the role.
- Conduct pre-start checks and promptly report any faults or maintenance needs.
- Maintain basic site records, including timesheets and documentation.
- Deliver courteous and professional service to community members.
- Contribute to emergency response and disaster recovery efforts as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Holders of a current Queensland Class ‘C’ Driver’s Licence.
- Possession of a current General Construction Induction card (White Card).
- Physical fitness suitable for demanding and physically active outdoor work.
- Willingness to travel and camp within the Cook Shire region as required.
- Prior experience in civil construction, maintenance, or related labour work is preferred but not compulsory.
- A team-oriented attitude combined with a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Additional Details
Two positions are open for immediate hire. Employment is full-time and permanent. The role requires travel and camping away from home on occasion. Compensation aligns with the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream B: Division 2, Section 5) Award – State 2017 – Level 2, offering $69,678 per annum plus allowances. Benefits include five weeks of annual leave, 15 days of personal leave, and 12% superannuation contributions.
