Job description

Role Overview

This position is for a site civil engineer supporting renewable EPC projects, with a focus on managing the civil scope at the construction location. The role is centered on making sure all civil activities are completed according to approved drawings, target timelines, budget constraints, safety expectations, quality benchmarks, and applicable regulations. It also requires close coordination with engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to keep project execution on track.

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee all on-site civil work, including foundations, approach roads, drainage systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Check daily construction activity to confirm it follows the design intent and safety practices.
  • Review materials, tools, and construction methods to ensure they satisfy technical and quality standards.
  • Support compliance with environmental rules and promote sustainable construction methods.
  • Work with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors so civil work stays aligned with the project plan.
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and environmental teams to ensure smooth integration of site activities.
  • Serve as a contact point for client-side representatives and other stakeholders on civil-related matters.
  • Carry out inspections to verify that workmanship meets project specifications and industry norms.
  • Conduct field checks such as soil compaction tests, concrete strength checks, and other material validations as needed.
  • Act quickly on quality concerns and implement corrective measures when required.
  • Enforce safety rules, procedures, and local statutory requirements to maintain a safe worksite.
  • Perform routine safety checks and audits to reduce the risk of accidents or hazards.
  • Ensure civil works follow legal, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including securing necessary approvals and permits.
  • Track progress against schedules and report delays, issues, or scope deviations to the project team.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, or monthly progress updates covering site status and civil work activity.
  • Share observations about site conditions and suggest improvements for better execution.
  • Help manage materials and site resources so procurement and delivery happen on time.
  • Monitor the quantity and quality of materials received and consumed for civil execution.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of materials to avoid damage or losses.
  • Identify and resolve site issues such as design mismatches, shortages, and technical difficulties.
  • Recommend practical solutions to limit impact on timelines and costs.
  • Keep detailed records of inspections, work completed, and material usage.
  • Submit site logs and reports to management, including progress, challenges, and deviations.
  • Maintain documentation needed for handover and any post-construction inspections or audits.
  • Engage with local authorities, environmental bodies, and other relevant stakeholders where required for approvals and compliance.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates on site progress and challenges.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Professional certification or licensure as an engineer, or an equivalent credential, is preferred.
  • Experience of 2 to 5 years in civil engineering is expected, ideally in renewable energy projects such as solar or wind.
  • Knowledge of construction planning, project scheduling, and budgeting is important.
  • Hands-on ability with civil design and construction tools such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D is needed.
  • Good understanding of construction materials, methods, and execution practices is required.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental standards in construction is essential.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, communication, and interpersonal abilities are desirable.
  • Capacity to work independently, make decisions, and troubleshoot site issues is important.
  • Exposure to renewable energy sites, including solar parks or wind farms, is an advantage.
  • Awareness of environmental impact assessment practices and sustainable construction methods is beneficial.

Work Environment

This is a field-based role with regular site visits to supervise civil works, inspect construction progress, and manage daily on-site operations. Travel to other project locations may be needed, particularly during construction and commissioning phases.

Career Growth

The role offers strong exposure to a rapidly expanding industry and can support progression into senior positions in project management, construction management, or technical leadership within the renewable energy space.
